Margaret Howell Autumn Winter 2013

After a few quiet days on the blog I'm featuring yet another inspiring ad campaign from Margaret Howell. It was Howell herself who styled models Eliza Cummings and Ben Allen and Koto Bolofo photographed them in Filottrano, Italy (he also photographed the spring campaign). I think the shots of the tailoring add that special something; it's almost like a visual proof that you are getting quality for your money.

In this world of quantity-over-quality, which we seem to live in, I think it's important to show exactly that.

In an interview with The Guardian, called 'Why good-quality clothes matter,' Margaret Howell said: "It is always possible to tell when someone cares about what they're making," and added:
[T]here is a certain pleasure in recognising something that has been well made. Good design is about using materials that are fit for purpose. The product has to be aesthetically pleasing, has to be functional – and if it has extra character to it, too, well, then that's something else.
Lately I have been coveting a boyfriend V-neck sweater but I have to say that this cashmere cable sweater is an item that I would gladly add to my wardrobe this winter. I would only have problems choosing between the grey and black one.
